(Really) Great Spaces: Oprah Snaps Up Jeff Bridges' Montecito PadBy Zoe Eisenberg
In addition to her status as a media executive, entertainer and philanthropist, Oprah Winfrey is turning into a tried-and-true real estate mogul with a property count of at least six following the offloading of properties in Chicago and Atlanta.
Recently, the talk show host upped her real estate footprint in Santa Barbara's Montecito area with the purchase of Jeff Bridges' Spanish Revival-style home, bringing Winfrey's Montecito home count to three. She purchased the two-bedroom, three-bath estate for $6.85 million, the same price Bridges and wife Susan Geston purchased the spot for, five years prior. The property, originally built in 1919, spans 3,517 feet with open-beam ceilings, massive bay windows, a pool with an ample entertaining area and a fireplace in the master bedroom. In addition to the former Bridges estate, Winfrey also owns a nearby 40-acre estate which she named The Promised Land. Time will tell if Oprah is to continue her Montecito purchasing spree.
