An overall winner has been announced! Leading Real Estate Companies of the World® and Luxury Portfolio International® have crowned Kohola Point, represented by Hawaii Life real estate professionals Ben Welborn and Tiffany Spencer, as the winner of the 2019 HGTV Ultimate House Hunt.

The Kauai property—a pristine, contemporary estate located on the North Shore—is currently listed for sale at $8.9 million.

"This is the seventh time in eight years a waterfront home was selected as the overall favorite, reflecting the love we have for homes that are centered around water–whether a lake house retreat or this year’s winner, a true Hawaiian paradise," Paul Boomsma, LeadingRE's president and CEO, tells Housecall.

HGTV reported that more than one million votes were cast before the month-long promotion ended on July 17. That staggering figure places the Ultimate House Hunt as one of the most popular contests on HGTV.com.

"Our relationship with HGTV is founded on our mutual passion for beautiful homes and all they represent," says Boomsma. "Just as our member brokerages focus on helping people realize homeownership, HGTV provides ideas and inspiration for creating ideal living spaces."

Kohola Point beat out some 91 other finalists—each represented by LeadingRE and Luxury Portfolio members—to be named the most exceptional overall home.

Winners in the other categories include Houlihan Lawrence Real Estate for Curb Appeal, John R. Wood Properties for Outdoor Escapes, Meybohm Real Estate for Homes With a History, Parks Realty for Amazing Kitchens, Windermere Real Estate for Big City Digs, and Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate for both Countryside Retreats and Modern Homes.

"The winning homes have something special that sets them apart–whether it’s a breathtaking location, distinctive architecture or simply the feeling that the home evokes," says Boomsma. "They capture the imaginations of consumers who can envision the lifestyles that these homes represent and be inspired by their beauty and craftsmanship."

Aside from bragging rights, the Kauai home will get additional editorial exposure on HGTV.com. Here are some photos of the breathtaking oceanfront estate:
