Pam Patenaude, deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), is resigning. She announced her departure on Monday, following 16 months in the role.
“Serving at HUD as deputy secretary has been the highlight of my 35-year career in housing,” Patenaude said in a statement. “It has been an honor to serve President Trump and Secretary Carson and I am deeply grateful to both for this opportunity. Thank you to my HUD family and fellow ‘housers’ for helping Americans access decent, safe and affordable housing.”
As deputy secretary, Patenaude was charged with heading up HUD’s Disaster Management Group, as well as involved with policy and research, among other areas. She has extensive experience in housing, including as HUD assistant secretary for Community Planning and Development and as president of the J. Ronald Terwilliger Foundation for Housing America’s Families, a nonprofit. She was endorsed by the housing industry, including the National Association of REALTORS®, upon her nomination to the post.
A native of New Hampshire, Patenaude will be returning to her state, where she will “continue to promote the President’s agenda to make this nation stronger and more prosperous for every American,” she said in the statement.
