5 Ways to Decorate with Rock

If you love rustic, nature-infused home design, you may already be decking your space out with raw wood and lush plant life - but have you considered decorating with stone? Using stones in home decor can lend your house a zen-like feel, and they are usually easy on the budget. Below are a handful of stony suggestions.

Stack them. If you have a collection of stackable stones, set them up on a shelf, end table or other flat location they can be admired. This arrangement is especially zen-like, so try it in your office or bedroom.

Nestle them. Using large stones as centerpieces on your bookshelves or mantles can be a great way to display their earthy wonder. Line them purposefully along a shelf for an interesting touch.

Frame them. If you have small, lighter weight stones, grab a piece of matting paper, a shadowbox and a hot glue gun and create a frameable work of art you can hang on the wall.

Function with them. Large stones make wonderful door stops or paper weights; utilizing stones in your everyday routine can add a flash of stylish function.

Use them as filler. Do you love candles? Grab a few large glass cylinders and fill them with smooth river stones before placing a candle on top. Or, add an inch or two of smooth stone on top of the soil of your favorite house plant.
