5 Inexpensive Home Updates for the New Year
The new year is the perfect time to look at your home in a new light. While a full-on home makeover or renovation may be out of the budget, the following tips are easy on the elbow grease, and your bank account.
Scramble your art. One easy way to make your rooms feel new is to rearrange the art. Move paintings and photos from one room to another or simply rearrange their placement on the same wall to look at them in a new light.
Replace fixtures. From shower heads to faucets, lighting sconces and doorknobs, replacing tired, outdated or rusting fixtures can give your home a fresh feel.
Freshen the paint. Even if you want to stick with the same colors, a fresh coat of paint - especially light colors like whites, beige and cream - can make your tired space pop again.
Caulk party. Survey your bathroom and kitchen for any places the caulk may be cracked or yellowing. This is an easy, inexpensive task that can improve aesthetics and help protect your counters, shower, tiles and floors from mold and moisture.
Swap out towels and bedding. Do you have stained or threadbare sheets, pillows and towels? Time for a fresh upgrade. Don't be afraid to splurge on bedding and towels - the minor luxury is worth it!
