Famed South Western Rancho de la Osa Hits AuctionBy Zoe Eisenberg If you hope to live like a past president, or maybe a cowboy, head down to Sasabe, Ariz., where the Rancho de la Osa is set to hit auction on October 20. Regarded as one of the last great Spanish haciendas, Rancho de la Osa is the former visiting spot of a line of presidents, as well as silver screen stars and famed authors. The Spanish-style ranch has over 10 buildings on the property, perfect for hosting a slew of influential individuals. Previous Rancho de la Osa guests include: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, President Lyndon B. Johnson, Joan Crawford, John Wayne, "Gone with the Wind" author Margaret Mitchell, Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas and more. Originally built in the 1700s, the ranch pristinely holds historic space while mixing in modern amenities for comfort. Only an hour from Tucson, the ranch borders the 130,000 acre Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, so relax in the adobe Hacienda or Cantina while nearby, deer and antelope roam in herds. The ranch's auction will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the property. This post was originally published on RISMedia's blog, Housecall.
