The experts at details.com say Gray and "greige" will remain popular, but black is the new color darling for 2014. They're even seeing people paint the outside of their house black as a way to modernize an older home. They report a recent Houzz poll showing 74 percent of homeowners admit to being a fan of black rooms, from bathrooms and kitchens with crisp white fixtures, to interior doors and exterior siding. While the Houzz poll shows that tile remains the most popular backsplash material - people are increasingly selecting metal tiles and other sheet materials including stainless steel, glass, and stone slab because it looks sleek and makes for easy cleaning. Lindsay Souza at thepursuitofstyle.com says vintage and one-of-a-kind pieces will be highly sought after. She says it's the curiosities that make a house a home and keep guests asking: "Where did you get that?" Jeanine Hays at aphrochic.com says in 2014 decorators will be dressing rooms with a lot more drama and glamour. Dark, moody walls in black will be the perfect backdrop to metallic accessories that she is seeing as part of a lot of projects this spring.
