Great Spaces: Largest Privately-Owned Property in Sedona Sells for Over $14M

By Jameson Doris

Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty, one of the most successful luxury real estate firms in Arizona, has announced a massive sale. El Rojo Grande Ranch, the single largest privately-owned property in all of Sedona, Arizona, has sold for $14,750,000.

The sale was technically for two listings of the same property that owner Ingrid Hills put on the market: a main residence that sits on 82 acres (sold for $11,250,000) and an additional 91 acres (sold for $3,500,000), totaling 173 acres and $14,750,000. The same buyer purchased the combined listings.

The estate, which had been on the market since 2006, was originally built for the famous Wrigley family and was later sold to Ingrid Hills and her family, heirs to the Hills Bros. Coffee fortune.

Hills has received multiple offers from developers in the 15 years the property has been on the market, but she declined all of them. It was her wish to sell the property to someone that would respect the natural beauty of the land and to preserve it long into the future. Her patience paid off.

Roy Grimm, a local Sedona agent, brought Hills the perfect buyer who wishes to reside in the main residence, a 6,700-square-foot Southwestern-style estate. The home boasts soaring walls of glass that provide striking views of the Sedona land that Hills wishes to preserve.

Additionally, there is an incredible 1,300-square-foot guest casita and 1,600-square-foot caretaker’s quarters. In total the property boasts five bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

Other luxury features on the property include a tack room, locker rooms, three arenas, a veterinary clinic, stables a private cantina bar and state-of-the-art equestrian facilities with multiple barns.
